Kaiserslautern Christmas Market

Saturday we went to the Kaiserslautern Christmas Market. We got there a little late and it was getting dark, and starting to rain before we left. I didn't realize how dark the pictures were coming out so you can't really see everything but I'll post what I have. There were a lot of food and gluhwein booths but not as much shopping as the other markets we've been to. There were a couple of rides for the children but being mean parents we didn't take Hailey on them. Mwahahaha!

The Kaiserslautern Market is open from November 21 - December 30 2011
Mon to Wed 10:00 – 21:00, Thu to Sat 10:00 – 22:00, Sun 13:00 – 21:00

Trier Christmas Market

Trier is the oldest city in Germany. That's about all I know about Trier, but you don't need to know a lot about it to appreciate the beauty all around.  If you would like to learn more about Trier check out the city's website (I'm still reading through the history).

I found it funny that Mt. Rushmore is what this restaurant used to represent their "American Pizza", hehe, South Dakota joke I guess...

The beautiful restaurant we ate at (underground) Historischer Keller

(yeah that's me...I don't like this picture but I figure since it's my blog I should be in one every now and then)

Inside the Cathedral

I saw several signs asking for silence inside the chapel but thank goodness I didn't see any forbidding pictures ;)

Those are someone's prayers...

I have one I'd like to add...Dear God, please heal my Grandma....

Mainz Christmas Market

Yesterday we drove to Mainz for the Christmas Market. I'd never been to a big one before and it was really fun. There were people standing around everywhere enjoying mugs of gluhwein. There were close to 100 shops selling wooden ornaments, jewelry, toys, crepes with any kind of filling you could want, pottery, and much more. There were rides for the kids too (which we carefully avoided.) The weather was wonderful considering it was the middle of December. The Mainz market will be open until Dec 23rd this year and they are open from 11-8:30pm Sunday through Thursday. Friday and Saturday they are open 11-9pm. Tuesday we're going to check out the Christmas market in Trier. It'll be our first time there as well. If you're interested in checking out a German Christmas market they are all listed here.
